In June 2009 we traveled to Ethiopia to learn more about the existing health programs for women with obstetric fistula in order to refine our program, find a location and partner organization. We met with key health care workers including the Minister of Health, the Tigray Health Bureau Head, The Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital, USAID, Clinton Global Initiative, The Oasis Foundation, UNFPA, IFHP, Merlin, Project Mercy and KMG.  We learned much was being done for fistula treatment but the real need was preventative measures and reintegration for fistula patients post-surgery.
